Hi, I’m Nat, and I am the future wife of a gamer who tends to have his moments of nerdrage.
Okay, I admit it, women are just as guilty when it comes to being so competitive that they will swear over Ventrilo or even beat up their friends sitting next to them (I did not do the latter, but I am very guilty of the former). But when a guy does it, I can’t help but to laugh. Uncontrollably at times.
One of Ronnie’s favorite games is Metal Gear Online. Basically, you kill shit. Mostly players. While I’m sitting on my bed and doing a little gaming myself, I will suddenly hear him spout out a chain of swear words and then the word “idiot”. Kinda like “Oh, bullshit, that fucking idiot!”. Now I have to remind him that while our daughter is still too young to understand that those are bad words that even Mommy and Daddy shouldn’t say, I have to remind him to not get all worked up about the nubs. But sometimes, I just can’t help it and I laugh until it hurts.
Of course, my laughter abruptly stops when he reminds me of my New Yorker mouth…
Although, I will admit that there is a limit to where nerdrage is funny. When you are swearing to a 2-year-old over an online version of classic Sonic, that’s not funny; that’s just fucking pathetic.
So how many of you have significant others who have moments of nerdrage? And as for you ladies–admit it, do you have nerdrage?
